Every summer, downtown Chemainus transforms into a vibrant open-air marketplace for one of the community’s most anticipated events of the year: the Giant Street Market.

Stretching along Willow Street in the heart of town, the Giant Street Market brings together local artisans, makers, small businesses, community organizations, food vendors, musicians, and visitors from across Vancouver Island for a full day of shopping, entertainment, and seaside small-town charm.

With over 100 vendors lining the street in past years, the event has become a beloved annual tradition and a true celebration of community creativity and local commerce. Visitors can browse everything from handmade crafts, artwork, jewelry, clothing, baked goods, specialty foods, vintage treasures, plants, and home décor to unique gifts and one-of-a-kind finds.

During the event, Willow Street is closed to vehicle traffic and transformed into a pedestrian-friendly marketplace filled with live music, food trucks, outdoor displays, and a lively festival atmosphere. Local businesses often join in with sidewalk sales, special features, and extended shopping experiences throughout downtown Chemainus.
